Your Very Own Earthship

Talk about self-sufficient. These autonomous buildings use the sun's energy and thermal mass of their walls for healing and cooling. They generate their own electricity from the sun. (sorry, Seattle, you're out of luck.) They harvest water from rain, deal directly with their own waste, use discarded tires or beer cans for wall construction, and are designed so that you or I could build one, at a relatively low cost. They're even available to us on a nightly rental basis...Taos, New Mexico; Fife, Scotland; and Brighton, England. You can't keep a good idea down. Beam me up for more.
