Swap O Rama, Sew Fabulous - Oct 8 in nyc

Recycling, fashion, supporting local artists, do-it-yourself crafting, and having a good time come together for Swap-O-Rama-Rama, happening in Brooklyn on October 8. This special event is a seasonal clothing swap and series of do-it-yourself workshops in which a community explores creative reuse through the recycling of used clothing.

It's a Give and Take: bring at least one bag of your unwanted clothing and a $10.00 donation to 3rd Ward, 195 Morgan Ave in Brooklyn and dive in to find your next fave from the pile; take as little or as much clothing from this pile as you like. There are also DIY workshops by local artists who are there to teach reconstruction/deconstruction sewing and crafting. Hey, there's plenty of potential Halloween Prep here.

Sept 30 there's a Swap-O-Rama-Rama in Vancouver, BC and others are getting underway in cities throughout the country, from Seattle to Atlanta; check the list (on the Swap-O-Rama-Rama site, above) to find one near you. Fashioning a thing or two from recycled materials...a sure sign of the times. /m

According to Swap-O-Rama-Rama's site, Chicago is on the list of cities that's considering putting one together.

Here's the Chicago email if you'd like them to contact you about their plans:

I hope it happens there. Thanks for stopping by. /g
